A hectic week

Obviously, we cannot go swimming all the time. So we thought we would write a short post about all the things that go on behind the scenes at Gone Swimming.

We are pretty active people, and as well as getting ourselves out and about in the water - we are keen to stay up to date and current with all of our qualifications and water safety knowledge. Read more about how we do this.

This week appears to have been about 14 days long, and been quite hectic. Dan has been away up at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre providing swiftwater rescue and safety cover, working with his former colleagues from Rescue 3 UK, and also with (celebrity name drop alert) Ben Fogle. The project is a rather cool TV show called Storm City 3D apart from that, we cannot tell you any more, not even show you any photos until after it has been broadcast (on Sky 3D and Sky Atlantic (in 2D) sometime in June). However, we can promise you it will be A MAZING!

During that week, Gabby was busy co-ordinating the Surfers Against Sewage - Big Spring Beach Clean at Hellsmouth near Abersoch on the Llyn Peninsula. Thank you to all those who turned up and helped out. Nationwide, over 3000kg of litter was removed from beaches by over 1000 volunteers that weekend. Great work!

Office stuff that has been going on - we are booking ourselves onto a few different courses and conference that are in the pipeline. There's quite a few Royal Lifesaving Society events that we are looking forwards to including the Regional Training and Network Event over in Warwickshire - where we will be taking a very close look a the new Water Safety Managent Programme, there is also the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification - Trainer/Assessor Update day that's up on the Wirral soon.

We are really looking forward to the National Water Safety Seminar down in Birmingham - supported by RoSPA that should be a great event, and lots of networking going on there.
