Surf Swimming

Surf swimming is not a huge sport over here in the UK, but it is great fun - and a brilliant workout if the conditions are good. Wild swimming - taken really wild, with our surf swimming coaches.

This one-day course (which can be combined with one of our holidays) is great fun, and will introduce you to the science of surf about how surf works, how waves form, and how to "read" the surf. The emphasis will be on safety, and making sure that people know how to decide when it is "too big" to go.... it is not always a case of "Eddie would go".

There is plenty of practical work to be done too - borrowing techniques from beach lifeguards and competitive lifesavers about how to move through shallow water quickly, how to duck-dive waves effectively, and how to "get out back" through the breakers. Trust us, it is a WHOLE heap of fun.

However, that is only half of the deal. Getting back in is the other half. We will be looking at body surfing techniques, and how to get back to the beach safely.

A bit of a discussion about equipment, and things that you can use to make your surf swims safer will round off the day.

After this course, you will realise that swimming in the sea does not always have to be about calm water - with some knowledge of the sea, and a good grounding in a few useful techniques - you can have great fun swimming and bodysurfing in the surf.

Fancy some of that? Give us a call on 01244 940 740 or drop us an email. We cannot wait to get into the waves!
